Harley in healthier days.

Harley in healthier days.

I took Harley to the vet this week because his breathing problem has been getting worse. We figured it was asthma or something like that (that’s what the vet thought it might be before). This time we went to a different vet that we were referred to because they are set up to do CT scans. So, Harley got all tested and it’s bad news. He has an aggressive, invasive nasal carcinoma and it is getting close to breaking through from his nasal cavity into his brain. He doesn’t have long to go. At the absolute most would be a year, but they think that would be pretty doubtful. It’s probably more like less than 6 months. He’s about to turn 15, so I suppose you could say we’ve had him for quite a while, but I’m going to miss my furry boy. He’s been with us since college. He’s a good cat. All we can do for him now is get him steroid shots every 3-4 weeks to help with the swelling and just keep him as happy as we can. Once his appetite falls off or he starts to show neurologic symptoms, we’ll need to talk about taking him in to the vet for the last time. I know there are bigger problems out in the world, but everybody who knew him, say a little prayer for our Harley boy.
